Career Opportunities

3D SCANNING TECHNICIAN

3DScanCo’s expanding customer base has created a need for a motivated and driven 3D scanning technician to operate our high-tech 3D scanning equipment, both in our service center and on-site at client locations.  The candidate will have the chance to mold the future of our company while getting the opportunity to work with and learn cutting-edge technology in the fields of 3D scanning and metrology.

Located in Norcross (Atlanta), GA, 3DScanCo provides world-class 3D scanning, quality inspection and reverse engineering services to every industry imaginable.  In business for over 7 years, we are committed to delivering the highest quality data that meets our clients’ needs and budget. While our service goal is to provide top-notch scan data and CAD models, our foundational value is to help customers realize significant benefits by using 3D scanning, be it through service offerings, off-the-shelf resale of existing technology or custom development of 3D scanners and software.

A majority of the candidate’s time will be spent performing sevice work, both operating the scanners and working with and creating models in one of many CAD programs.  However, as a small company, the candidate will get a chance to “wear other hats” and do whatever’s needed to make us successful!

You will have the opportunity to grow and learn in a number of different areas.  From how to operate our multiple 3D scanners and CMMs to using many different CAD software packages to the endless world of manufacturing (plastics, rapid prototyping, casting, thermoforming, blow molding, etc.), every day presents a new challenge and learning opportunity.

A candidate must:

  • Have an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Be self-motivated
  • Be an excellent problem solver
  • Be able to communicate ideas internally and with customers
  • Enjoy learning new things

and have:

  • CAD experience (preferably with both surface and parametric modeling)
  • Manufacturing knowledge
  • Technical aptitude

Our projects are as varied as any real world object, including, but obviously not limited to, tiny figurines, entire planes, cast parts, sculptures, cellphones, turbine blades, guns, racecars, medical devices, national treasures and more.  We never know what new and exciting projects are around the corner, which keeps us on our toes and forces us to be ready for the unexpected.

The candidate will be expected to perform:

  • In-house 3D scanning and measurement using the appropriate tool for the job
  • On-site 3D scanning at client locations (10-20% travel)
  • Post processing of 3D scanning and measurement data to prepare scan data for reverse engineering
  • Reverse engineering of 3D scan data into CAD models
  • CAD modeling and design

We work with clients of all sizes, including high profile companies such as Lockheed, NASA, Siemens and Yamaha, and offer a competitive compensation package including a full benefits package with 401(k) and comprehensive insurance.  However, the real value of a career at 3DScanCo is the tremendous work environment and great experience we provide.  We are a small, young company and you will have the opportunity to shape our future while learning many new things!
