Artec™ 3D Scanner Model S, M, L
The Artec 3D Scanners, Model S, M, L allow digitizing of a broad range of objects according to size.  Also video-based scanners, these models use video camera technology to captures a three-dimensional image in each frame. The frames are then combined automatically in the software into a single mesh.  The scanning process is as easy as walking around the object while continuously “videoing” it from 360 degrees.

Why the Artec Model S, M, L?

The addition of these new easy-to-use, low-cost Artec™ 3D scanners to 3DScanCo’s product line gives our customers more great options when looking for a system with excellent scanning capabilities at a lower cost than most other 3D scanning technology systems. 

Extremely portable and suited to various sized objects, these hand-held scanners can be used in the lab, onsite at clients’ locations, or even outside. 

The Artec video-based scanners’ outstanding measuring speed of up to 500,000 points per second make them many times faster than laser scanners and they can be used to scan moving objects as well as stationary ones, opening new possibilities to customers for use in sports, animation, fashion, medical, and computer graphics applications where motion capture is needed as well as in more traditional industries such as architecture, prototyping, and manufacturing.

Our Thoughts

The Artec 3D Scanners are super easy to use, just like a regular video camera.  The resulting image is three-dimensional.  Capture speeds are phenomenal, which is why dynamic parts can be captured as well as still items.  The portable system is lightweight, making for easy access to all sides of a part, especially important when objects cannot be moved. The Models S, M, and L scanner sizes  specifically accommodate the scanning of a range of objects: from a small object such as a coin to a large one like a whole person. We recommended you purchase the appropriate-sized scanner for your specific purpose to arrive at the final 3D image quickly and efficiently. Sometimes a combination of two scanners can be used to maximize accuracy and efficiency.

The included software allows users to export the 3D model into one of many popular formats: STL, OBJ, PLY or WRL. The images then can be utilized in ZBrush, 3D Studio Max, Maya, Polyworks and other software programs used to manipulate 3D images.
